Pamalama's Sidewinder Review

I give the Sidewinders burger experience a 7.5. I chose the buffalo burger, which had a good flavor, but due to the lean nature of the meat, it was drier and not as greasy as the Billy's, which detracted from the experience. I'll stick with regular ole cow from now on to keep the control group more consistent. The circular table was a plus, but the TV overload is too much for me, (miss buffalo chips) I won't be here for the next two thursday's, so be sure to save Amangani for when I can come along!

Atmosphere: 5 - unlike my coworker John, not a big fan of TV in restaurants unless "Denise Richardson, It's Complicated" is playing. It's dark in there!

Presentation: 7 - burger came face open... could inspect before ingesting.

Cuteness of Waiter: ? - too dark to tell

Taste: 8 - had the... hmmm... see Shelly's review for name... great w/ gorgonzola and carmelizedd onions.. sweet and sour in one bite.. yum.

Sides: 8 - side salad, pretty fresh.

Additional pertinent info - had to pay for Shelly... AGAIN. Split? Sure, you pay! I'm tired of Burger Day. I'm also broke. Amangani, here I come. Get your credit card Shet Bag!

M.E.'s Sidewinders Burger Review

Seating / atmospheric comfort: this was a circular encounter, eye contact possible with all reviewers, could also see almost all 8 TV's set to 8 different stations on one wall...a little loud...rating 4

Service entertainment: our waiter was very knowledgable about choice of beverages; you can turn an Arnold Palmer into a John Daily by adding a shot of vodka...good to know...rating 6

Accessories: a pickle was included with this burger but didn't want it, couldn't give it away, everyone else had reached their pickle limits. Fries very crunchy, good flavor, ate them all...rating 8

Sloppiness / slide out factor: this was a very well contained burger, the bacon was just a little uncooperative, but overall nothing hit the plate or my lap that wasn't supposed to...rating 8

Eatability: nice bun.....Oh, the burger...the burger was just the right size...rating 7

Palate response: my taste buds very happy with this swiss bacon beef burger...rating 7.5

Two words: Ranch Burger

Rating 1-10, 1 = Best (see previous post)

1) Bacon?  1

Anything with bacon gets a 1, just ask Becca Puleo.

2) Napkin Requirement: 5

This thing was everywhere, which for some reason equates to a good burger.  The more messy the more better.  But, then you have stuff all over you and appear to have issues with hand/eye coordination.  So, it's a trade off.  You get a good burger, but have the appearance of needing a bib.  So, I went 5.

3) Fries: 3

I like the fries at Sidewinders.  I really like the sweet potato fries at Sidewinders.  Why didn't I get sweet potato fries?  That's really weird.  But the "regular fries" are good.

4) Seating Arrangements: 2.8

Since we're a pretty big group, they put us at a nice big round table.  Problem was that upon finishing my food, for some reason I was laughing such that I nearly needed medical attention.  Suffice it to say, my stomach still hurts.

Overall: 2.085

Sidewinders is always a good burger option.

John's Sidewinders Burger Review

(scale 1 worst - 10 best)

Atmosphere: 8 (I'm a sucker for TV's. BTW there's 8 in the main room. I got it right.)
Presentation: 5 (average)
Lettuce crispness: 7
Cheese Liquidity: 7.5
Beverage Quality: 8
Messiness: Low
Taste: 7 (A lil' bit dry. I guess it's the difference between a grilled burger and one cooked in it's own fat on a flat top!)

Meegmann's Billy Burger Review

(scale: 0 worst - 10 best, except in the case of #4 (sim. but opposite))

1. Taste/Cost Ratio (7) Fries were not as good as usual

2. Atmosphere (6.5) would have been better with the lights off

3. Burger "Naming" (1) expected

4. "Stink-Factor" - how long after eating the burger does the smell of the establishment linger on in your clothing - a score of 10 is baaaaaaaaad. (10) note to self, don't sit next to the grille again.

5. Will Kathy split the calorie-loaded-burger with me? (0) no, but she paid for my burger and that was nice.

Pamalama's Billy's Burger Review

On a scale of 1 - 10 (10 being the best) I give Billy's burger a 9. It has always been a favorite.
The burger has just the right amount of grease and juice to taste great (but don't ever go in there in a silk blouse, or on a date)
I like the diner atmosphere and the interaction with the "chef?"
The toasted bun and waffle fries round out a great lunch, I'm just sad that they no longer do the betty burger.

sustainability - 8, based on reuse of serving ware, longevity of establishment, and yes I know that beef is not exactly sustainable but tastes really good.

Atmosphere: 7 - I like the traditional diner atmosphere... reminds me of "Happy Days". I was in love with Fonzie.

Presentation: 4 - Burger in a basket.. not very original.

Cuteness of waiter: 4 - Snowboarder by Winter, Billy's by Summer, need I say more?

Taste: 7 - pretty yummy, you can fry a piece of poo from a sandbox and it will taste better than grilled

Sides - 5 - waffle fries, yawn

Can't talk about getting a burger in Jackson without mentioning Billy's.

My scale is also 1-10, but 1 = best.

(Note: I realize that's confusing compared to the other reviews on this blog.  Let's keep in mind, you are reading a blog about hamburgers.  Apparently you have some time on your hands and I'm highly confident you'll be able to handle it.)

1) Beverage Delivery System: 2

Not only did it deliver the beverage, but there is a little icon showing how much ice to put in, and shows how much beverage to put in. Gave it a 2 because you run dry quick and you have to rely on frequent checks from one of the guys flipping burgers to refill you.  However, I have seen people perform their own refill before...risky, but possible.

2) Burger Ordering Process: 1

It's pretty simple at Billy's.  You either get cheese...or you don't.  I like the minimal options.  I got cheese (refer to John's review re: liquidity).

3) Do You Want Fries With That? 1

I give Billy's a 1 because they have less common fries than the other guys.  Yeah, that rhymed.  It was not intentional.  It's not that kind of blog.

4) Tip Jar: 1

It has a smiley face on it, begging for spare change.  We got there early apparently, it was pretty empty.  OR, it's a trick...you decide.

Overall: 1.8.  The calculationification process is technical...

Bottom Line: Billy's is good.

Eatability / enjoyment factor: definately a two hander...rating 7
