As Horse Creek is no longer open I thought I would pay it tribute by immortalizing it's burger on our blog
(scale 1 worst - 10 best)
Atmosphere: Horse Creek post remodel was much nicer than pre-remodel. It also didn't smell like smoke anymore.
Presentation: 5 (average)
Lettuce crispness: 4 - big crispy lettuce :(
Cheese Liquidity: 8 - good
Beverage Quality: beer... wish it was on tap though.
Messiness: Medium
Taste: 7 - not bad. I will miss the spicy waffle fries

Jason's D.O.G. Review
The "Dee Ohh Gee". Didn't know they even had a burger until we began this exercise. They do. As a side note, this is the closest place to our office that we've reviewed so far. I realize that this is debatable since the Wort is also just across the street, however, the simple action of having to cross Broadway causes the Wort to be considered much, much further. Those that have tried crossing Broadway this time of year during lunch time will most likely agree. And what happened to all of those flags at the crosswalk on Broadway? Who takes them? And what do they end up doing with them? Another blog...another time...
We did take out due to some strange requirement of our time to actually do something other than travel around the greater Jackson area eating and writing about burgers. Weird. But, it should be noted that ALL food, burger and non-burger, is take-out at the D.O.G. It's just a window on the side of a box of a building that houses a dinky little kitchen. You walk up to the window and the guy will say something like "whaddayawant?" And you say "burger". He says "whatschaname?" And you make one up...which is the rule when a food place asks your name...you make one up.
The D.O.G. burger is simple. It's a wheat bun on the bottom, the burger, the cheddar, the tomato, some lettuce, the onions, the pickles, and a wheat bun on top. No surprises. No frills. The fries were about what you would expect to come through a window on the side of a box of a building that houses a dinky little kitchen. Through consumption you will undoubtedly get a whole month's dose of sodium, no question. But for whatever reason, whether it's the close proximity to our office, or the completely engaging conversation that occurs at the window, or the fact that it's THE D.O.G...it's a good burger. I'll probably continue to get one there on a regular basis.
(But let's be honest...at the D.O.G...it's really all about the breakfast burrito)

Jason's Sweetwater Elk Burger Review
John's Sweetwater Burger Review
Elk Cheddar Burger
(1 worst - 10 best)
Atmosphere: Sweetwater is always a nice place to go. Pretty chill and has a great deck for those few warm summer months when you just don't want to eat inside.
Presentation: 8
Lettuce crispness: 4 - had to take it off
Cheese Liquidity: 7.5 - good
Beverage Quality: 5 - The never seem to get the proportions right in their Arnold Palmer so for the record it's 50% iced tea and 50% lemonade. I don't think they got the memo.
Messiness: good
Taste: 8 - ketchup was not immediately available so I used some of Kathy's salad dressing. I think it was the Feta Herb & Garlic but I can't be positive. It added a little twist to an otherwise average burger.

John's Amangani Burger Review
Kobe Beef Burger
(scale 1 worst - 10 best)

(scale 1 worst - 10 best)

Atmosphere: 9.5 - Going to the Amangani is like being in a spa. I take off 0.5pts because of the Enya and harp music. I add 0.5pts because of the cool urinals. (it's has to be seen to be understood)
Presentation: A+
Lettuce crispness: 10 - just crispy enough butter lettuce....FINALLY SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS THE IMPORTANCE OF LETTUCE!!
Cheese Liquidity: 10 - ummm ummmm cheddar....
Beverage Quality: 10 - Had an Arnold Palmer and it didn't just have ice, it had iced tea ice cubes.

Messiness: Still messy but oh well.....
Condiments: 9 - Adding a new category this week. They serve the mustard, ketchup and mayo on their own little tray in separate ramekins. Hard to beat something like that.
Taste: 10 - Pretty damn good.
Jason's Amangani Review
...I've said all along that Amangani has the best burger in town. That's a part of how this whole thing got started. It's K-O-B-E beef for Pete's sake! Done.
M.E.'s Amangani Burger Review
Seating / Atmospheric Comfort: Nice back cushion on chair, good for the lower back and for digesting burger. Our demeaner seemed a little subdued due in part, I think, to the mellow Enya music...didn't want to disrupt our neighbors...felt like we needed to be on our "good behavior"...rating 8
Service Entertainment: great service...rating 9.5
Accessories: fries were tasty, lettuce was the best...one whole piece of butter lettuce that had no chance of falling out, Arnold Palmer drink had the best iced tea ice cubes...rating 10
Sloppiness /Slide out factor: pretty well contained, didn't lose any pieces parts....rating 9
Eatability: eat the whole burger first, then the fries? or alternating one then the other? Fries first? Doesn't matter, it was all good...rating 9.5
Palate Response: very happy, but will skip the mushrooms next time...did someone say there will be a next time?.....rating 9.5

Jason's Wort Review
The Wort. I went for the buffalo. If you are ever put into the position of betting whether or not I will go regular burger or buffalo...bet on buffalo. Use your best Cliff Claven voice here..."It's a little known fact that the uh bison, or more commonly known as buffalo, is uh lower in cholesterol and the uh calories, but higher in iron and protein there Normy."
I'm in agreement with what everyone else has said about the Wort burger. I'll emphasize that it's messy. In fact, just ask for a towel from the hotel staff. You're gonna need it. Napkins won't cut it, don't kid yourself. The end.
M.E.'s Wort Hotel Burger Review
Seating / Atmospheric comfort: Nostalgic, I remember the Wort Bar in the 80's before the hotel burned, used to have a great dance floor, great bands. Now there's cowhide paneling and a very, very, very small dance floor. Country music still playing...rating 5
Service entertainment: nothing unusual or special...rating 5
Accessories: the fries started out ok, but over time pickle juice got on them, yuk...rating 5
Sloppiness / slide out factor: had to stuff the lettuce and tomatoes back into the bun several times, hard to keep them in, way sloppy...rating 9
Eatability: definately a challenge due to sloppiness factor, meat a little dry without a lot of flavor....rating 4
Palate response: where are we going next week?....rating 4+
Note to Shelli: you were right on, need I say more...

Katherine's Wort Burger Review
0=yuck, 10=yummy
Atmosphere: 9 - Can't beat the ol' historical Silver Dollar Bar. A big extra point for the cow hide wainscotting.
Presentation: 7 - Burger was falling apart even as it landed on the table.
Cuteness of Wait Staff: 8 - Little gal was darling... a bit too much blush though.
Taste: 7 - Silver Dollar Burger.. was like homemade, but mine was a bit dry... nothing that a lot of condoments won't fix.
Sides: 6 - Pickle was limp. Coleslaw was so so.
Additional pertinent info: Shelly wasn't here. Saved some money today.
