Jason's D.O.G. Review

The "Dee Ohh Gee".  Didn't know they even had a burger until we began this exercise.  They do. As a side note, this is the closest place to our office that we've reviewed so far.  I realize that this is debatable since the Wort is also just across the street, however, the simple action of having to cross Broadway causes the Wort to be considered much, much further.  Those that have tried crossing Broadway this time of year during lunch time will most likely agree.  And what happened to all of those flags at the crosswalk on Broadway?  Who takes them?  And what do they end up doing with them?  Another blog...another time...

We did take out due to some strange requirement of our time to actually do something other than travel around the greater Jackson area eating and writing about burgers.  Weird.  But, it should be noted that ALL food, burger and non-burger, is take-out at the D.O.G.  It's just a window on the side of a box of a building that houses a dinky little kitchen.  You walk up to the window and the guy will say something like "whaddayawant?"  And you say "burger".  He says "whatschaname?"  And you make one up...which is the rule when a food place asks your name...you make one up.

The D.O.G. burger is simple.  It's a wheat bun on the bottom, the burger, the cheddar, the tomato, some lettuce, the onions, the pickles, and a wheat bun on top.  No surprises.  No frills.  The fries were about what you would expect to come through a window on the side of a box of a building that houses a dinky little kitchen.  Through consumption you will undoubtedly get a whole month's dose of sodium, no question.  But for whatever reason, whether it's the close proximity to our office, or the completely engaging conversation that occurs at the window, or the fact that it's THE D.O.G...it's a good burger.  I'll probably continue to get one there on a regular basis.

(But let's be honest...at the D.O.G...it's really all about the breakfast burrito)
